Piet van der Hem (1885-1961) was a Dutch artist who became known for his illustrations and paintings of Paris. He was born in The Hague and studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.

After completing his studies, Van der Hem began working as an illustrator for various magazines and newspapers, allowing him to showcase his work to a wider audience. His illustrations were often inspired by the Dutch countryside and everyday life.
In addition to his illustration work, Van der Hem also created numerous watercolors and oil paintings. He regularly exhibited his work in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Paris.
In the 1950s, Van der Hem was knighted in the Order of Orange-Nassau for his contributions to Dutch culture. He passed away in 1961 in The Hague, but his work continues to be admired by art enthusiasts to this day. Many of his illustrations and drawings can be found in museums and private collections, including the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
