Notes from the Art Trade

Every work of art has a story to tell. In my art blog, I take you behind the scenes of life as an art dealer, offering insights into what it takes to discover, research, and place exceptional works of art. One day I may be wandering the galleries of the Hôtel Drouot in Paris; the next, conducting research at the RKD or accompanying a collector to an international art fair such as TEFAF and Frieze.

As a regular columnist for Tableau Fine Arts Magazine, the Netherlands' oldest art magazine (published since 1978), I write the column 'Notes from the Art Trade'. In it, I share discoveries, unexpected archival finds, overseas art shipments, obscure forgeries, and the many surprises that make the art trade so endlessly fascinating. It offers a glimpse behind the scenes of a world where research, intuition, and experience constantly go hand in hand.

Below is a selection of these columns and other articles. Use the button below to read the full stories on the Tableau Fine Arts Magazine website.
